Heavy Metal Magazine Releases Official Soundtrack To 'Gates,' Benefiting The Ronnie James Dio Cancer Fund (August 14, 2011)
This past Tuesday, August 9, marked the release of Heavy Metal magazine’s official soundtrack to Gates, titled “Volume 1 – Ascension,” which features our brand new song “Is This Over Now?” This is an honor for us on many levels, not least of which is because all net proceeds from the sale of the audio companion to the comic will benefit the Ronnie James Dio “Stand Up And Shout Cancer Fund.”
Heavy Metal Magazine's 'Gates' Introduces New Soundtrack Song: "Is This Over Now?" by Inside The Black (May 16, 2011)
Today, on the one year anniversary of the death of Ronnie James Dio, we are proud to introduce the newest song to be included on the Gates soundtrack — our song titled “Is This Over Now?”
This will be the first music soundtrack from Heavy Metal magazine in over ten years. One of the standout tracks on the original movie soundtrack from 1981 was obviously “Mob Rules” by Black Sabbath, a band that has had a huge influence on Inside The Black. The band also spent plenty of time listening to the rest of Ronnie James Dio’s music, with the albums Holy Diver and The Last In Line getting countless plays.
There are a lot of layers to “Is This Over Now” which we will allow you to discover for yourself, but on at least one level, thematically it fits perfectly with many of the questions and themes of Gates.
“We’re honored to be on the soundtrack to Gates, and to be associated with the musical legacy created by the first Heavy Metal magazine soundtrack,” said Mike Richmond of Inside The Black.

New Single "Leave It All Behind" To Be Released April 29, 2011. (April 21, 2011)
On Friday, April 29, 2011, hard rock band Inside The Black will release their long-awaited new single "Leave It All Behind" on iTunes.
The song is one of four that were recently recorded by the band. Their time in the studio is chronicled in 15 short videos now available on YouTube.
Three of the songs will be released as digital singles, while the fourth will make its appearance on the soundtrack for Heavy Metal magazine's first web comic "Gates."
Fans that "Like" the band on Facebook or that are signed up for the mailing list will get a special, limited time offer on Friday.
This is just the beginning!

On January 1, 2011, Heavy Metal magazine's first digital comic, "Gates," officially launched. The first five pages are now available, with a new page to be released every Tuesday.
Inside The Black will be featured on the comic's soundtrack, coming out later in 2011.

Inside The Black to be on Soundtrack for Heavy Metal Presents: Gates (October 31, 2010)
It was announced today that Heavy Metal magazine plans to publish its first digital comic, Heavy Metal Presents: Gates. It was also revealed that the comic will feature a music soundtrack that will include a song by Inside The Black.
The comic's official site, http://gates.heavymetal.com, launched today and the comic will debut on the site on 1.1.11.
The release details are still being worked out and will be announced soon, but look for a digital and limited edition CD release by early 2011.
Gates centers on a specially-conceived young man, named Gates, living a wretched existence in an isolated colony of humans ruled by a totalitarian government that controls all facets of life, from which Gates must escape. Gates is an epic tale of discovery and adventure addressing ideas of identity, society, politics, and philosophy, as well as modern concerns, including environmentalism, evolution, and the unintended consequences of scientific and technological experimentation.
Heavy Metal and the comic's creator, Hal Hefner, wanted to not only pay homage to the famous soundtrack for the 1981 Heavy Metal film, but to also create something special for the release of Gates.
The 1981 Heavy Metal film soundtrack features songs by Sammy Hagar, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult and Stevie Nicks, among others.
The soundtrack for Gates will not only feature a song by Inside The Black, but also music from LoveKrafty, The Odd Wedding, and more acts are to be announced.

As we are always trying to find new and cool things to give to our fans, we thought we'd bring you into the rehearsal room.
Kicking off "The Rehearsal Tapes" is this audio recording of our cover of "Reach Out (I'll Be There") by The Four Tops. Listen closely just after the 1:00 mark and hear the aftermath of a broken guitar string.

Inside The Black kicks off the Sunset Strip Music Festival with Y&T (August 26, 2010)
It was announced today that Inside The Black would help kick off the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival with Y&T at the Key Club.
Y&T is a legend of the Sunset Strip. Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the '80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe. After a hiatus, Inside The Black returns to the live stage tonight at Skinny's Lounge in North Hollywood, CA. In addition to destroying some cuts off their debut album, they will be playing a brand new song for the first time.
Inside The Black announces new vocalist, Mike Richmond (June 11, 2010)
Hollywood rock band Inside The Black today announced its new vocalist, Mike Richmond. Richmond is a seasoned frontman, having been part of the Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles music scenes for many years. Most recently, he fronted his band Eden Tree.
"Mike is an incredible signer and Inside The Black is proud and excited to have him behind the mic," said Scott Hunter, guitarist for Inside The Black. "He’s got a very powerful and soulful voice. It’s the perfect fit for Inside The Black and we can’t wait until our fans get to hear the new music we’re putting together!"
The new line-up will make its live debut on June 21 at “Rock The Night” at Skinny’s Lounge in Los Angeles, starting at 11:30pm Eastern/10:30pm Central. The show will be broadcast on Internet radio station Radio Reddit (http://radioreddit.com).
The band is currently sharing demos for their upcoming sophomore release on their official blog. While only instrumental versions of the songs have been posted so far, they will soon post demos with Mike on vocals.

Inside The Black announce a rare glimpse into the record-making process (April 21, 2010)
Hollywood rock band Inside The Black today announced plans to involve fans in the entire process of writing and recording their second album, beginning with a blog post of a raw demo.
While fans are accustomed to hearing demos when albums are reissued, they are rarely, if ever, treated to demos as an album is being written. “We plan to show fans everything we go through to write and record this second album. This will include the posting of incomplete song ideas, demos, rehearsals, recording sessions and whatever else that happens that might be insightful and interesting,” said Scott Hunter of Inside The Black.
